Stanley Kubrick’s Space Odyssey

Stanley Kubrick classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. The character of HAL actually seems to have a soul, or at least the beginning of one. HAL is the onboard supercomputer that runs the entire spacecraft. The man-made machine allows to run the entire operation in space. In the movie, HAL is the only one on board that is consciously aware of the true mission of the spacecraft. The human passengers of the ship don’t even wonder, or question, what the mission is all about and what they are doing. In 2001, The genious Kubrick leaves us with the mind-blowing possibility that machines will eventually acquire a soul and take over control over men.
